Help with your LUTs

Understand your color workflow, install a file in your editor, and find the next step if a download has a problem.

01 — Color workflow

Rec.709 footage and Log

Rec.709 video is standard SDR video prepared for display on a normal screen. Log footage stores a wider tonal range in a flatter-looking image and needs a color transform before a creative look is applied.

First convert Log footage to standard Rec.709 with your editor's managed color workflow or an official conversion LUT for the source format. Then correct exposure and white balance, and apply a style LUT. These style LUTs do not convert Log or HDR footage.

The LUT is designed for display-referred standard SDR video and is applied after exposure and white-balance correction. Results can vary slightly with your editor's color management.

02 — Software installation

Install a LUT in your editor

Unzip the download first. Products contain .cube files and are compatible with editors that import .cube LUTs.

DaVinci Resolve

.cube
  1. Open Project Settings and choose Color Management.
  2. In Lookup Tables, choose Open LUT Folder. Copy the .cube file into that folder.
  3. Return to Project Settings, choose Update Lists, then select the LUT from the LUTs panel on the Color page.

Adobe Premiere Pro

.cube
  1. For a reusable install, create a Creative folder in the editor's shared LUTs folder and copy the .cube file into it.
  2. Restart the editor if it was already open while you installed the file.
  3. Select a clip, open the Lumetri Color panel, and choose the imported look from Creative > Look.

Final Cut Pro

.cube
  1. Select a clip in the timeline and open the Effects browser.
  2. Choose the Color category and apply the Custom LUT effect to the clip.
  3. In the Video inspector, open Custom LUT, choose Choose Custom LUT, and select the .cube file. Choose the LUT input and output color spaces based on the spaces used to create the LUT. These LUTs are designed for standard SDR video at both input and output.

剪映专业版(Jianying)

.cube
  1. Use the desktop edition and unzip the LUT download before opening an edit.
  2. The current official Jianying help pages do not document custom .cube support or a menu path, so these steps cannot identify a verified import control.
  3. If your app does not show an importable LUT control, use an editor with a documented .cube import workflow. The Jianying help team needs to confirm the current desktop menu path and mobile support.

Blackmagic Camera

.cube
  1. Follow the LUT import instructions in the official Blackmagic Camera manual to import the .cube file; menu names differ between iOS and Android, so refer to the manual for your platform.
  2. Record LUT to Clip is a separate option. Enable it only when you want the selected LUT recorded into the clip; otherwise keep it available for monitoring and later grading.
